Flood / excess moisture watch
Western Canada + contiguous U.S. cropland water-risk watch
Google Earth Engine blends Sentinel-1 surface-water reads, recent IMERG rain, SMAP wetness, GFS forecast rain, crop masks, permanent-water removal, and lowland terrain context. The map now uses official AAFC and Crop-CASMA soil-moisture anomaly layers as visual context underneath Bushel Board acreage hotspots. This is a watch layer: acres at risk, not confirmed damaged acres.
0 ac
Sentinel-1 surface-water watch acres; not a crop-loss claim.
3.4k ac
Recent rain plus SMAP wetness or lowland exposure.
0 ac
3/7-day GFS rain risk over already vulnerable cropland.
15k ac
Lower-confidence acres worth keeping on the board.
Watch map
Jul 3, 2026 to Jul 10, 2026. Official moisture anomaly context underneath; GEE acreage hotspots on top.
Flood / excess moisture
Official soil-moisture anomaly context sits underneath GEE acreage hotspots. Hover a marker for acres at risk.
Risk hotspots
Moisture anomaly context
AAFC SMOS for Canada; Crop-CASMA SMAP hybrid for the U.S.
Public moisture reports
Wet and dry ground checks help show where the moisture watch is right, wrong, or too broad.
Public wet and dry reports help calibrate the moisture watch against real field conditions. No sign-in required. Reports stay feedback-only until reviewed.
Official moisture context
These underlays improve regional read quality, but they do not prove field-level damage.
AAFC weekly surface soil moisture anomaly
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada - Canada
SMOS-derived percent-saturated surface soil moisture anomaly for the top 5 cm.
Crop-CASMA weekly SMAP hybrid soil moisture anomaly
USDA NASS, NASA, and George Mason University - Contiguous United States
Crop-CASMA SMAP hybrid weekly anomaly layer used as official U.S. visual context.
Freshness
Source clocks are shown separately from the acreage estimate.
Source run
success - 2026-07-03 to 2026-07-10 Western Canada/US moisture watch
Claim boundary
Acres are at risk/watch acres from satellite, rainfall, forecast, and terrain screening; they are not confirmed damaged acres or crop-loss proof.
